Apolis & Handsome | A Common Table Visionary | Tyler Wells

Downtown in the arts district last night, creative minds gathered to listen to  Handsome Coffee Roaster's co-founder Tyler Wells share his experience as a small business owner and entrepreneur. The event was hosted by Apolis, a men's lifestyle and clothing brand who's tag line is advocacy through industry. Apolis - meaning global citizen - is also a certified B corporation which dedicates it's beautifully handcrafted products to socially and environmentally conscious shoppers.

In the talk, Tyler explained how his culinary school background and experience with mechanics led him in the direction of the coffee industry to develop one of Los Angeles' premiere roasteries and wholesale businesses. He shared with us the importance of creating community and cultivating spaces (and even neighborhoods) where people can go to meet up, connect with someone they don't know, or just have a friendly conversation with their barista. As Tyler sees it, coffee has peaked - you can find a delicious beverage almost anywhere now - which means the days of pretension surrounding coffee are over... or at least very much on their way out.
